Giants Black and Blue Falcons

The New York Giants were in their first playoff game since winning the Super Bowl in 2008. The past three years the Giants could not compare to that championship team that they had, but today they were playing both sides of the pig skin. Eli Manning and the offense did what they had to do to give New York a comfortable lead, and the defense protected that lead.
Eli Manning threw for 277 yards, which included three touchdowns and no interceptions. The dynamic duo of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw each carried the ball 14 times and had a combined 155 yards. It was a rather quiet afternoon for Victor Cruz, but Hakeem Nicks was rather explosive. He had six receptions for 115 yards.

Defensively, the Giants were above average. The put pressure on Matt Ryan when they needed to, and forced the Falcons to try and make big plays. Although there were no turnovers in this game, Big Blue sacked Ryan twice, and this was enough to shake him up and force him out of the pocket. No touchdowns were given up, and that says a lot about the Giants defense. Although the Giants won by the score of 24-2, they should definitely not take this win for granted.
With this Wild Card win, head coach Tom Coughlin has his hands full as he prepares to lead his team into battle against defending Super Bowl champions, the Green Bay Packers.
