After being drafter by the New York Yankees in 1990, catcher Jorge Posada is planning on retiring from the game of baseball. He is the second member of the "Core Four," the term used for the group of World Series Champions Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Petite, and Posada. Together, they won five World Series including the 1996, 1998,1999,2000, and 2009.
What else could be said of the catcher? Posada is finishing his career as a Yankee. He played his whole career in pinstripes, and that can be seldom said for anyone. He has a respectable career batting average of .275, and has 275 career home runs. Along with those homers, he has 1,065 RBIs. That's not all; Posada is third among Yankee catchers for games caught in pinstripes with 1,574. He could've looked for employment elsewhere in the American League, but Jorge chose to end his career with the Yankees and as a fan that makes me respect him that much more.
Jorge Posada is planning to make the official announcement within the next two weeks. He is just waiting for a time that he feels is right.
