Schottenheimer Out, Sparano In

The moment that all Jets fans have been waiting for has finally happened. No, not another Super Bowl guarantee; the Jets announced Tuesday night that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer had decided to resign from his position. Although Schottenheimer released a statement saying it was his choice to leave, rumors have been flying for weeks now about his leave.
This morning, news hit the internet that Schottenheimer was looking to meet with Alabama head coach Nick Saban about the vacant offensive coordinator position at the college. It was stated that Alabama is seeking an experience OC, and Schottenheimer meets that requirement. In his three years with head coach Rex Ryan, his play calling lead the Jets to two AFC championships, but AFC championship games mean nothing. It's the trophies that matter.
With Schotty leaving, there is a vacancy that needs to be filled. New York announced the hiring of former Dolphins' head coach, Tony Sparano. Personally speaking, I am not sure if this is an upgrade at the coordinating position, but it is definitely in a different direction of the former play caller's playbook. Sparano has no experience as a coordinator, although he called plays for Dallas back in 2006. Hopefully having Sparano's friendly face around will get Sanchez back on track to be the Jets' franchise player.
